I am trying to determine if the RAM in an HP Spectre x360 Convertible 15-eb0xxx can be upgraded from 16 to 32?

Hi, @kronosmomv78 all laptops should come with a compatible SSD that is just how it is. So yes I am aware that your PC has an internal SSD which is normal. I mentioned earlier that if you upgrade your SSD you will see significant improvements in your laptop's performance including the ability to run Photoshop Creative Cloud well.

Hi, @kronosmomv78 you cannot upgrade your RAM from 16GB to 32GB on this laptop.

It has a non-removable 16GB RAM.

You can however only upgrade the SSD.

See this resource for more information on this.

I apologize for my lack of computer knowledge. Considering that an increase in RAM from 16 to 32 is not possible for the HP Spectre x360 Convertible 15-eb0xxx; would upgrading the SSD have a positive impact on laptop performance with regard to certain software packages that put a demand on a16 GB Ram system?  I use the HP Spectre predominantly for photo editing and I'm finding with some procedures, I get a lag in response following a command when using Adobe Photoshop. Thank you in advance.

Hi, @kronosmomv78

As expected, the SSD results in a massive performance boost when working with the system: with the SSD installed, Photoshop CS5 starts 4 times faster than with the original HDD; the 1GB image file opens 3 times faster.

Thus, Upgrading to a solid-state drive and increasing memory capacity are two easy and cost-effective options for increasing PC or laptop performance. Even relatively new systems can see a significant performance gain when a traditional hard drive is upgraded to an SSD.

Once again, thank you very much Charlie, that was very helpful.

Charlie,

I have a follow-up question regarding the HP Spectre x360 Convertible 15-eb0xxx. As a reminder, I am trying to enhance performance of this laptop; however, as already discussed the RAM is hard wired at 16 GB, so RAM upgrade is not possible. We discussed upgrading to SSD, but I failed to mention that the HP Spectre x360 Convertible 15-ebOxxx comes with an SSD. My current question is, despite the fact that it already has an  internal SSD, is it possible to upgrade the existing internal SSD to a more powerful or efficient SSD to improve performance when using Adobe Photoshop Creative Cloud? All of my photos are on an external hard drive and I save consistently to that drive & work from that drive. Would upgrading to an external SSD have any benefits. Thank you once again in advance.
