W2M88UA#ABA
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

This laptop came with 6GB of RAM, well I spilled a little rum on it and lost the 2 GB card, 4 GB card works fine.  So I would like to put a new card in the second slot.  What will my motherboard support?   Tech stuff below

Product # W2M88UA#ABA

Serial # CND61627N6

Working Card Slot 1:  4GB Samsung 1866MHz

Right now she sucks about 1.8GB of RAM at idle, I do not game but I am an Engineer and have to use SQL and Visual Studio for programming changes at power plants, with those two running and a browser like Chrome running I suck about 3 GB of RAM.

Options advice requested.  Can I just get a 4GB card at same speed and be done?  Curious thou, can I put in a 8GB card, at same speed for a total of 12GB?   Also is two 8GB cards an option?

Thanks

Owen

Pages 42-47 of the Manual tell how to do it:

Manual

Uses DDR4-2133 memory up to 2 x 8 gig modules for 16 gb total.

Memory module (PC4, 17000, 2133-MHz) For use in models with AMD A10 and A9 processors:

8-GB 820570-005

4-GB 820569-005

Given your spill I would run a test on the slot that held the 2 gig module before spending this kind of money. Swap the 4 gig module into that slot and see if the computer runs OK before buying additional memory. I would also run a full system diagnostic (tap esc then F2 as you power up). If rum got in far enought to fry a memory module I am concerned about the integrity of the hardware.

Great post, I will do that regarding switching slots, thanks.  During the rum spill I lost the motherboard too, but I was in the Dominican Republic and got a new (used) motherboard cheap and it works like new.  So this motherboard will support 12GB of RAM, that is pleanty for me and rather cheap.  SSD survived fine.  lol.
