I tried using both 8GB as first card with the 16GB second, the other way, using only the new one and it comes to the same result everytime, at this point as of July 29th I haven't bothered trying again at all since almost 2 months ago.
Does anyone know about the compatibility list for the gen of my notebook?
Please help.

Hi @Kanky,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.
Thanks for providing the detailed specs. This helps a lot. Based on the HP Pavilion Gaming Laptop 15-cx0001la, here’s what you need to know about RAM compatibility and why your Dahua 16GB module might not be working.
Official HP Memory Specifications for 15-cx0001la
According to HP's HP Pavilion Gaming Laptop Maintenance and Service GuideIMPORTANT! This document is intended for HP a...
- Memory Type: DDR4-2666 MHz SDRAM
- Maximum Supported RAM: 16 GB (2 x 8 GB)
- Slots: 2 SODIMM slots (both accessible)
- Supported Configurations:
- Must be non-ECC
- Must match in speed and voltage
- Ideally, from the same manufacturer for best compatibility
Why Your Dahua 16GB Module Might Not Work
Your Dahua RAM is:
- DDR4-3200 MHz, CL22
- Likely running at 1.2V, which is standard
- But your system is designed for DDR4-2666 MHz
While DDR4-3200 is technically backwards compatible, some HP BIOS versions are picky about:
- Mixed speeds (2666 MHz + 3200 MHz)
- Mixed brands
- High-latency modules (CL22 is relatively high)
The blinking Caps Lock usually indicates a hardware initialization failure, often RAM-related.
Recommended Steps
- Try the Dahua module alone in each slot (you’ve done this good).
- Reset BIOS/CMOS:
- Unplug the laptop, remove the battery (if possible), and hold the power button for 15 seconds.
- Unplug the laptop, remove the battery (if possible), and hold the power button for 15 seconds.
- Use matched RAM:
- Try using two identical 8GB DDR4-2666 MHz modules from a known compatible brand (e.g., Crucial, Kingston, Samsung).
- Try using two identical 8GB DDR4-2666 MHz modules from a known compatible brand (e.g., Crucial, Kingston, Samsung).
- Run HP Diagnostics:
- HP PC Hardware Diagnostics
I hope this helps.
Take care, and have an amazing day!
