Hi there ,

I have HP Pavillion x360 13 -u005-tu . IT is running on intel i5-6200u and has a 4gb DDR4 2133MHz  RAM .
I want to upgrade the RAM .
Can I use a RAM with higher frequency like 2400Mhz or 2666Mhz ?

Kindly help me out .

I am listing below some of the products , kindly suggest the best  .

1.> Corsair Vengeance Performance Memory Kit 8GB (1x8GB) DDR4 2666MHz

2.>Crucial Basics 8GB DDR4 1.2v 2666Mhz CL19 SODIMM RAM

3.>Crucial CT8G4SFS824A 8GB DDR4-2400

Go with the Crucial Basic DDR4-2666 CL19 memory, so it properly bridges to 2133, CL15.

I don't know what CL speed the Corsair CL 18 memory will bridge to but I'm pretty sure it won't work in your notebook since it has faster timings than the standard performance memory.

Hi:

I'd go with the Crucial Basics since it is less expensive than the Crucial DDR4-2400 chip.

The Corsair memory's CL18 timing is most likely too fast for your notebook.

If you use DDR4-2666 MHz memory, it should be CL19

Thank you for your valuable insight .

I just checked on CPUZ app , it is showing my current RAM is  CL15 .  Would you still recommend CL19 ??

One more thing ,

My laptop has a single RAM slot , would you recommend to go for 16gb of the same RAM instead of 8gb  ??

You're very welcome.

When I look at the service manual, it indicates that the memory is an integral part of the motherboard and cannot be upgraded (see chapter 1).

HP Pavilion x360 m3 (model numbers m3-u100 through m3-u199, m13-u100 through m13-u199, m3-u000 throu...

Have you actually looked inside the notebook to see what's what?

Chapter 1 of the manual indicates onboard system memory that can't be upgraded.

Chapter 3 of the manual has the list of motherboards that are supported in the model series, and none show that they come with onboard system memory (at least not that I can see).

Chapter 5 has the memory removal and replacement procedure, and it shows that there are two memory chips that can be removed and replaced under a square metal shield.  See pages 58-59.

It also indicates you have to remove the motherboard to get to where the memory is located.

The Crucial memory report also indicates two slots for upgradable memory.

So, the service manual provides very conflicting information, and my advice to you is not to buy anything until you know exactly what you are getting into.

I cannot find any posts where anyone has actually reported installing memory in that model series, although most of the replies have indicated the notebook has two memory slots.

Seems like too much trouble to me to upgrade the memory (if you can).

I checked with the HP support team and they confirmed, it does have 2 RAM slots .
As I mentioned earlier my current RAM is DDR4 2133mhz  CL15 , should I still go with the Crucial basic CL19  or Corsair one with CL18 ?
