HP Notebook 15-db0018ca

I wanted to know the maximum RAM capacity (GB) and frequency (MHZ) I can put in the HP Notebook - 15-db0018ca. Why do I have an M.2 NVME slot, but no connector?

You have obviously opened the laptop to look inside. On the A9 processor models you were supposed to have 2 memory slots, but you are also supposed to have an M.2 slot. From your description I am going to guess you have the rectangular outline of a slot with the traces on the motherboard but the plastic slot retainer is not there. Happens frequently and you were smart to open the laptop first. We never have received a great explanation from HP so all we can do is to advise potential upgraders to verify before investing in upgrade parts. If you have 2 memory slots it can take 2 x 8 =16 gigs DDR4-2400 SO-DIMM but the motherboard will run it at 1866 speed.

The specs of your machine is

           https://support.hp.com/au-en/document/c06038616

1. RAM: It has 8 GB DDR4-1866 SDRAM (1 x 8 GB) now and you can upgrade to 32 GB max

       (a) To 16GB: add 8GB more to slot 2 using

                   https://www.crucial.com/memory/ddr4/ct8g4sfs824a/ct12659674      (will run @ 1866MHz)

       (b) To 32GB: install 16GB each to both slots using

                  https://www.crucial.com/memory/ddr4/ct2k16g4sfd824a/ct12659614

2.  M.2 SSD: Your machine has A9 processor namely  AMD A9-9425 Dual-Core (3.1 GHz base frequency, up to 3.7 GHz burst frequency, 1 MB cache), therefore it supports dual storage but why earlier machines do not have M.2 connector I don't know. I can't find part for it.

@banhien  only Ryzen will take 32 gigs....AMD A series max at 16. This is a case where the motherboard has the traces where an M.2 slot could be soldered on but no actual slot. The Manual says it should have a slot but it happens all the time the slot is missing when the Manual says it should be there.
