Yeah well you need to click the link on the Service Manual I gave you. Intels can take 16 gigs, AMDs 8 gigs. That might be wrong, but that is the best information available. And it is DDR3-1333 as I said.

Since you have an AMD processor, 8 gigs is the maximum memory or 2 x 4 gig modules.

Your laptop came from the factory with a 4 gig and a 2 gig for 6 total so you need to discard the 2 gig module and replace it with a 4 gig module.

Service Manual

"How to" page 66. Easy procedure.

Memory you need:

4-GB (DDR3, 10600, 1333-MHz) 621569-001

https://www.amazon.com/621569-001-4GB-1333MHz-PC3-10600-SODIMM/dp/B005UF674S/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=...

This is the "best and fastest" memory your laptop can use. It would not do any good to try to buy "gaming" or "performance" memory the system would just slow it down to run just like the factory stock RAM.

Hi, thanks for responding. I just googled the specs and it says the max memory it can have it 16 but it does not say the speed: http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c02880009
