Hi,
Your PC supports max 16GB of DDR4-2133Mhz RAM (2x8GB)
This is what the system has been tested with. However being a DDR4 system it will support 32GB of RAM.
You should use 2400Mhz RAM which will run at 2133Mhz. At the moment you have one stick of 4GB, so you could add another 4GB to the empty slot.
On page 2 and 54 of service manual you can see various configurations and steps to upgrade RAM.

Hope it helps,
David

I ordered some RAM from Crucial and had some trouble installing it. You will need to take off the rubber feet and quite a few other screws and also its beneficial to have one of those prizing apart tools. But now the RAM is in my laptop recognises the full 8gb and works a lot quicker then it did before.

Your welcome. There are no HP videos for your model, however if you follow the service manual it should not be too difficult to upgrade the RAM. Here is the manual.
http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c05493257
1. Remove Battery:
You can see on page 38 of service manual ho to remove the battery.
2. Remove optical drive
I believe your PC does not have DVD drive so you can jump this passage, If it does have DVD drive you can remove by following page 40 of service manual. There is only one screw holding it in and then it slides out.
3. Remove bottom cover:
On page 49 you can see how to remove the bottom cover. On page 50 you can see where the screws are. There are screws under the rubber feet, so you need to peel them back a little to remove the screws.
Now you can use a plastic tool such as guitar pick or credit card and start prying between top and bottom cover. Start at the front of computer and work you way around with the corner of credit card (do not insert to deep into computer) to release the plastic clips holding top and bottom together. Pull up lightly on the bottom cover while going around and finally lift off the cover.
4.Insert RAM
On page 54 of service manual you can see how to insert RAM.
Let me know if you need further help,
David
