I want to upgrade my old (but reliable) Pavilion g6 from 4gb RAM to 8gb. Do I have an option of using DDR3 SDRAM, or do I need to stick with the original DDR3 RAM? Are SDRAM and RAM interchangable? If so, which one would be better? I will be swapping out 2 2gb" for 2 4gb's-- Thanks!

I think I got the answer to my question from this video: -- SDRAM vs. DDR RAM
My understanding according to this video is that DDR RAM is SDRAM, but runs twice as fast.
DDR stands for Double Data Rate Synchronous Dynamic RAM, while SDRAM stands for "Synchronous Dynamic RAM". IIRC, SDRAM first came out in 1997, and DDR came out in 2000.
So unless I'm mistaken, the answer to my question is that I would absolutely not want to put SDRAM in my computer, even if I could. -- As a sidenote, I think some of the semantics I saw for DDR SDRAM are not technically correct. DDR IS SDRAM, but runs at twice the speed.

Your machine is an HP PAVILION G6T-1B00 CTO machine. You can use following RAM

RE: -- "You can use following RAM -- https://www.crucial.com/usa/en/pavilion-g6-1b33ca/CT5307443"
Thank you for your reply. -- I had already run across this product, and was sure it would work. I also ran across other products that were essentially identical, but, were listed as SDRAM.
Which got me to wondering if SDRAM was better non-SDRAM (as in the link above). I can't figure out if I have a choice of putting SDRAM memory in my computer or not. Can I, and would it be advisable to do so if I could? -- Thanks again!
