Hp Notebook 15-ay190nia
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I had preinstalled DDR4-2133 dual channel support memory.

Now I am planning to upgrade to 8 gb at least.

But I have no knowledge about RAM compatibility and even my motherboard model.

Can someone help me, what is my motherboard model and which clock frequency RAM does it support?

Should I install 8 gb single RAM or 2× 4gb RAM but of which clock frequency?

Does clock frequency matters a lot?

Hi:

Below is the link to the crucial memory report for your notebook.

https://www.crucial.com/compatible-upgrade-for/hp---compaq/hp-15-ay190nia

You would want the DDR4-2400 memory because the fastest speed the processor your notebook has can run the memory at is only 2133 MHz.  The faster memory will automatically 'downclock' or 'bridge' to 2133 MHz.

Installing memory in matching capacities (2 x 8 GB, 2 x 4 GB), is better than installing mismatched capacities (8 GB + 4 GB), because memory installed in matching capacities runs in dual channel mode, and memory running in mismatched capacities, or with an empty memory slot, runs in the lower performing single channel mode.
