Hello! I have an HP OMEN Gaming Laptop 16-wd0xxx with an Intel Core i7-13620H processor and HP 8BA9 motherboard.
My laptop currently has 16 GB of DDR5 RAM (2 × 8 GB), operating at 5200 MT/s.
I understand HP officially lists 32 GB as the maximum supported capacity, but Intel specifies that the i7-13620H can support up to 96 GB.
I'm interested in upgrading to 64 GB using two 32 GB DDR5 SO-DIMM modules.
Could you confirm whether my specific laptop's motherboard and BIOS can recognize and operate with 64 GB of RAM, even if that capacity isn't officially validated by HP?
If 64 GB is not officially supported, is that simply because HP has only tested configurations up to 32 GB, or is there an actual hardware or firmware limitation?
Thank you!

Even though your processor technically supports max 96 GB memory, it is ultimately the BIOS that determines how much RAM your model can handle.
You can open windows PowerShell as an administrator and run the command line below for the max supported RAM capacity.
Get-CimInstance -ClassName Win32_PhysicalMemoryArray | Select-Object MaxCapacityEx, MemoryDevices
This command line retrieves the memory information from the SMBIOS table in the BIOS.
It reports the RAM capacity in KB. To convert to GB, divide the number twice by 1024. If 64 GB comes up, your system will likely support 2x32 GB.
I checked the forum for any reports of a successful installation of 2x32 GB in Omen 16-wd0xxx models but found none.

Thank you for the information! I'm actually running Pop!_OS (Linux), so I used: sudo dmidecode -t memory to retrieve the SMBIOS information.
Interestingly, it reports a maximum capacity of 16 GB, even though HP officially lists support for 32 GB on my model.
Would this suggest that the BIOS-reported maximum isn't necessarily accurate? I'm wondering whether trying 2 × 32 GB would be possible?
