HP 15s-fq1512sa
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi Community, I need help with RAM and SSD upgrade. I bought this (HP 15s-fq1512sa) Notebook recently and can't find the manual (user guide) or a detailed specification sheet regarding components of this particular Notebook anywhere I look.

As far as I know it has 2x4 GB 2666 MHz 260 pin Single Ranked, Removable memory from Samsung so I should be able to upgrade them with 2x8 GB or 2x16 GB Modules because it supports up to 32 GB Ram memory.

My question here is, does it allow me to use Dual Ranked modules instead of single ranked because then I would be able to afford 2x 16 GB dual ranked memory for the upgrade. Crucial 32 GB Ram on Amazon

And regarding the SSD upgrade I would like to know if I can install an additional nvme m.2 ssd on top of the existing Intel Optane+238 GB SSD. Or is there any other internal Storage upgrade solution possible (prefer adding an extra SSD if it is possible because of speed).

Thanks in advance for any help.

Q:  My question here is, does it allow me to use Dual Ranked modules instead of single ranked because then I would be able to afford 2x 16 GB dual ranked memory for the upgrade.

A:  Here is the memory and SSD's that are recommended by Crucial Memory.  If you look at their memory, the modules in your link are listed as compatible.  You no doubt know that when Crucial recommends one of their products it is guaranteed to work.

A:  Here is the Product Specifications page for the notebook.  There is no mention of an Optane SSD in them.  It only mentions the 256 GB PCIe® NVMe™ M.2 SSD.  You will most likely have to remove it to add a different SSD.  Also, here is the Maintenance and Service Guide for the notebook.  On Page 31 there is a list of compatible SSD's and instructions on how to replace them.

I have the same model with the Intel Optane Memory and 10th Gen Core i7, not outlined in the Manual indicated. I have added a 16G memory module as suggested by Crucial and so now have 20G. This is ample for my needs. When I opened the case, there seems to be space for a for a 2 1/2 inch SSD, but no obvious connections and the case bottom lid has plastic protrusions, I guess to make the case structurally strong, which could be carefully removed. I was hoping to use a Samsung 860 QVO 1TB but I guess I'll use it via an USB Housing instead.
