This is CM404,

 

I  have an HP Pavilion x360 - 11m-ad113dx. It has one slot for RAM. It currently has 4GB of RAM and i need to upgrade preferably to 16GB RAM but my users guide says that it can only go up to 8GB RAM. When I run the Command Prompt command: wmic memphysical get maxcapacity and do the conversion kilobytes to gigabytes my machine says it can handle 16GB RAM. I would like to know several things.

 

  1. Why does my OEM manual say the limit is 8GB RAM?
  2. Why does my Command Prompt say 16GB RAM?
  3. Which is the correct option?

The service manual indicates one memory slot that can take a max of 8 GB.

I would agree with the 16 GB max memory report if your notebook has one of the Intel core processors listed in the manual, but the specs on the Pentium N5000 processor directly from Intel state the max memory is 8 GB.

If you have a 16 GB DDR4 2400/2600 memory chip you can experiment with, it won't hurt anything to try it out.

 

The notebook will work fine and defy the specs from Intel itself, or it just won't boot up.
