You're very welcome.

I'm surprised by your discovery.

Unfortunately, I would have no idea if HP has begun to use Crucial memory since this is a peer-to-peer forum and I don't work for or represent HP.

In my opinion, that would be a good thing since Crucial memory is made by Micron, a reputable memory manufacturer.

Also, if you wanted to upgrade the memory, a compatible Crucial memory chip would be very easy to buy on places like Amazon.

Hi:

HP uses memory from several different manufacturers...Samsung, Hynix, KIngston, Micron.

It depends on what they have on hand at the time the PC is manufactured.

They may use Micron memory which is the parent company of Crucial.

Crucial memory is the retail division of Micron and sells memory to PC purchasers for upgrading memory, and not PC manufacturers.

If you want to see what brand memory HP installed in your notebook without taking it apart, you can run the free utility that I zipped up and attached below.

Thank you, Paul, for your response.

When I checked my 'RAM manufacturer' in the command prompt, it shows 'unknown'. Then with its 'Part number' I got to know that it is 'crucial' RAM. I suspect that the vendor from whom I purchased my PC, replaced the already present RAM (hynix) with this crucial one. When I asked him about this, he said that HP has recently started using crucial RAM in higher specifications laptops. Is that true?
