Hi again everyone. I've scoured these forums and others, and can't find a definitive answer to upgrading my RAM memory.
My system:
HP EliteBook 8440P
2.8 GHz Intel Core i7 M640
Win7 Professional 64bit
Bus clock 133 MHz
Bios: HP 68ccu, ver. F.11 (2010)
Dual core, hyper threaded (4)
(?) Mobile Intel QM57 chipset
According to Belarc Advisor I currently have one 4MB module of Samsung RAM under the keyboard. The second slot is empty. First off, isn't most RAM memory sold in GB? I know the computer is capable of 8GB, and the Kingston modules I just tried to install were 4GB each. The Kingston sticks are 8GB (2x4), PC3-10600, CL9, 204 Pin SODIMM, 1.5V modules, and they do NOT work on this laptop even though they should.
Has anyone found the secret to exactly which memory modules will work with this specific laptop model? Is it density issues? Voltage issues? Am I missing a driver. Do I need to sing to the thing while I install the memory?
Seriously, any help at all will be appreciated.

You're very welcome.
For some reason any HP notebook with the Mobile Intel Series 5 chipset is a real bear to upgrade the memory on.
In any event, everyone that bought that memory (or the equivalent), had no problems.
