Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello

I have a problem with one of my RAMs. Originally the ProBook came with one 4GB RAM installed, but unfortunately that RAM gave in or I kind of messed it up😁

But anyway, I got myself two 2GB DDR3 RAMs. I installed both of them into my ProBook, but only one of them seems to work, for as the BIOS and My PC properties only detect 2GB  RAM installed, but it should be 4GB RAM, as there are two 2GB DDR3's in.

So I took out to see which one is not working, and found the one that cannot work on its own as the ProBook does not turn on/makes beeping sounds. But when I put that same 2GB DDR3 in another laptop, the BIOS and My PC properties detect that sam RAM that is not detected in my ProBook.

Is there some other configurations that should be done, for as far as my knowledge goes, you just insert the RAMs and the laptop does the rest.

So please can anyone tell me what the problem is, and what I can do.

Thanks

Hi:

The only opinion I can offer is that the specs call for a minimum of a 4 GB memory chip in each slot.

As long as you purchase compatible memory, you are correct.   It is plug and play.

You must install DDR3L (1.35V) memory.   DDR3 (1.5V) memory will not work.

I see that it must be DDR3L yes. But it is strange that one of the DDR3 works but not the other one, yet it works in another laptop.  Think the best to do now is to get 4GB DDR3L's  and struggle for this lockdown with this 2GB, although it takes hours to boot and forever just to open a window.

Thank you Paul 👍

You're very welcome.

Older notebooks with 1st,  2nd and some 3rd generation Intel core processors can use 1.5V DDR3 memory.

Notebooks with Intel 4th gen and newer processors must use 1.35V memory.
