Product: HP Pavilion dv8 Notebook PC
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Total 8GB of RAM (2X4GB in each slot). One 4GB lost. If replace with slots, appear and works 8GB again, but after some minutes one 4GB lost again. If remove one 4GB from notebook, another 4GB works normally. Does not matter which 4GB will be installed in which slot: any one 4GB works well in any slot, separately. In pair, one 4GB disappearing.

Please try

 

  • Press and Hold the Windows key and Press R. Type msconfig in the Run dialog box and Press Enter.
  • The System Configuration window will open. Go to the Boot tab in it.
  • Select your Operating system from the list below if you have more than one. Now Click on the Advanced Options button.
  • On the upper right corner, Clear the checkbox next to Maximum memory. Click Ok.

Not helps. Even in "Maximum memory" is 4096 mentioned, but really in slots are 2X4096. If clear checkbox it's still 4096 in  

"Performance" of Task Manager. If I will replace cards in memory slots it will be shown 8 GB, but after some minutes one 4096 will be lost.
