Hi, a while ago I started receiving intermittent blue screens. They gave a few different stop codes, but mostly "Memory Management." Both the Windows diagnostic tool and Memtest86 say there are problems with my RAM. Memtest returned so many errors that it stopped the tests. Now, I am getting a "Memory Management" blue screen every few minutes.

The RAM is the original Samsung DDR4 SDRAM 1x8GB SODIMM, 2133 Mhz.

I did not contact HP before my warranty expired (about a month ago) because the screens were only intermittent, but now they are frequent and I believe the problem began way back then.

Before I pay for new RAM myself, could I get this taken care of under my (now expired) warranty?

Thanks,

Ben

Did you pay with a credit card? If so you may have extended warranty coverage under your credit card company.

Thanks for the idea, but unfortunately not, I paid with a gift card.

Do you still have the receipt?

Most places have a Sale of Goods Act that state goods must be of merchantable quality and fit for purposes. It basically means that if the average lifespan of a laptop is say 5 years or so and yours breaks down after a year, the manufacturer has to remedy the issue. Of course the annoying part is escalating this up the HP support chain.

Yanrui,

Interesting, thanks. I do have the receipt, I bought it online.

Do you have any advice for getting into the "support chain"? Since my warranty is expired, the website says I can only use this message board, or pay for phone support.

I've had my own issues with HP recently and someone moved my post over there and I got a reply
