HP Recommended
omen 17 ck2003

Hello,

I've been browsing plenty websites for the past days to make sure to purchase the right RAM for my laptop and I am getting confused.

Those are the specs :

-------------------------------------------------

i7 13700HX

RTX 4080

Motherboard 8BAD (Chipset HM770 & Socket BGA1964 - it took me a while to find those info )

Current RAM SODIMM 2x16GB DDR5
-------------------------------------------------

HP specifies that my laptop cannot go higher than 32GB of RAM

When I ran Crucial it tells me I can go up to 64 GB of RAM

Intel specify my CPU can support up to 192GB of RAM

When looking for the other Omen that could go up to 64GB according to HP I realized the motherboard was the same (8BAD). Therefore I deducted that it should be fine.

Now I'm looking to buy 2x32GB but I'm stuck on the frequency

Crucial Scan recommended whether of those 2 :

Crucial 64GB Kit DDR5-4800 SODIMM CL40 (CT2K32G48C40S5)

Crucial 64GB Kit DDR5-5600 CL46 (CT2K32G56C46S5)

So I was trying to find out if it was really worth it to buy the 5600MHz/s

Apparently intel specify my CPU supports :

Memory Specifications

Max Memory Size (dependent on memory type) 192 GB

Memory Types Up to DDR5 4800 MT/s & Up to DDR4 3200 MT/s

Max # of Memory Channels 2

Max Memory Bandwidth 76.8 GB/s

However I tried to convert the 4800 MT/s into MHz/s and it gives me 2400 MHz/s

So now I'm confused and I'm sure it's a newbie mistake o/

What did I do wrong ?

Is my laptop compatible with more than 64GB as specified by Intel ? Or is it limited by the motherboard ?

Would 5600 MHz be fine or just a waste of money ?
Am I fine to get any other brand than Crucial or should I stick to them ?

Thank you for your help !
