Pavilion 15-ec0003ca
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Wanted to upgrade RAM on my new laptop. What is the maximum size of RAM for Pavilion 15-ec0003ca?

This is the standard config (except the RAM - see below) https://support.hp.com/us-en/product/hp-pavilion-gaming-15-ec0000-laptop-pc-series/29322788/model/31...

It looks like based on General (Product Family part list)  http://partsurfer.hp.com/Search.aspx?type=PROD&SearchText=8GH44UA , RAM is SODIMM 8GB 2666MHz 1.2v DDRM and not 2400 MHz.

See p. 1 of the Service Manual here:

Manual

The memory installed is DDR4-2666 but it bridges (downclocks) to 2400 speed. DDR4-2400 will also work but I would not mix -2666 and -2400 modules. 32 gigs (2 x 16) is the max.

Post back with any more questions and please accept as solution if this is the info you needed.

Thanks for the quick response.

If I install only 2666 RAM will it work as 2666, or 2400 is max frequency for the mother board?

HP Recommended

Well, I see that 2400 is based on the processor. 2400 is my max freq. Is this correct?

HP Recommended

Yes 2666 "bridges" (i.e. downclocks) to 2400. So whether you install 2400 or 2666 memory it runs at 2400 speed.
