HP 255 G7 Notebook - AMD Athlon 3050U 4GB 128GB SSD
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi, I am thinking off upgrading my HP 255 G7 Notebook - AMD Athlon 3050U 4GB 128GB SSD to 8gb RAM.

I read some very helpful previous posts, thanks, and I  just have 2 follow ups:

1) I think one of the HP experts said going from 4-8 RAM with all else same would not have a dramatic impact? (Although I'm not certain from the way it was phrased). So, any general thoughts on whether 4-8 will do much? General user, basic tasks but I find machine slow sometimes.

2) Looking in the service manual it says need to remove cover and battery first to get at the RAM slot. Sounds quite involved, at least more so than 'normal' RAM upgrade? I'm not very techy so would this be a job for a pro?

If it won't make much performance difference and does need pro install then won't bother..

Thanks very much,

AG

Hi:

With today's operating systems and software, 4 GB simply is not enough memory.

It is barely adequate.

8 GB would make a nice difference, and 16 GB even better.

As far as difficulty, yes...it is not easy to replace the memory, but most 'do it yourselfers' would not be put off by it.

So, that is your decision after reading the service manual and here are some videos I can share with you...

Thanks very much for quick and helpful reply 😁

So I will pursue the upgrade, and look at the videos to see if I fancy doing it myself.
