Hi,
I would like to freshen up my Notebook Hp Pavillion dv6 replacing standard 2x2Gb RAM with 2x4Gb. I have tried with these:
>> HyperX Impact HX316LS9IB/4 memoria 4GB 1600MHz DDR3L CL9 SODIMM 1.35V but at boot up system crashed providing error message KERNEL SECURITY CHECK FAILURE
I was told frequence was wrong (1600) compared to original therefore I baught the second pair 1333Mhz which is exactly the same Frequence PC mounts from factory. I baught these two:
>> Kingston KCP313SS8/4 Memoria RAM da 4GB, 1333MHz, DDR3, 1.5V, CL9, Nero
unfortunately same problem: KERNEL SECURITY CHECK FAILURE
Original RAM are: ELPIDA DDR3 SO-DIMM 2GB Memory Ram PC3-10600S-9-10-F1
Help!
Thanks a bunch,
Marco

It's that i7 first generation machine and is very finicky about memory. It will take 8 gigs but the proper memory is actually DDR3-1066 also known as PC3-8500.
Memory modules, PC3, 1066-MHz FSB ■ 4096-MB 579156-001
If this is the memory you installed:
http://www.macmall.com/p/Kingston-DIMM-Memory/product~dpno~13790966~pdp.baadcedd
It is high density 4 black blocks per side and there is all kind of documentation of issues with it on your model series.
The memory must have 8 black blocks per side (low density) to play nice with the HP.

Thanks for your prompt feedback. So the problem with the one I have used is that it has 8 modules on one side and only 4 on the other...? OK I will return it back to Amazon and purchase the new one and let you know. Thanks for now!
