Hi - this has probably all been asked and answered but I can't find it.
I just got a HP Pavilion 14 14-dv0000 (190U5AV) (I don't know what the exact model number is) It is an i7 11th gen 16GB
I want to upgrade it to 32GB but it appears to only have one slot. My questions are:
a) Can I upgrade it by just replacing the existing 16GB RAM card with a 32?
b) Will the laptop setup allow me to use 32GB?
c) What sort of RAM should I buy? DXRBDGEFH??? all just meaningless numbers to me.
d) Are any brands of RAM more recommended / better avoided?
My local HP service centre here in Indonesia says that don't have 32GB RAM so cannot upgrade it - but there are language/communication issues, so not sure if they are telling me I can't - or just they won't do it.
Many thanks in advance anyone for an answers or advice.

According to your HP Pavilion PC 14-dv0000 (190U5AV) laptop's specs ( Maintenance and Service Guide (hp.com) ), it says, unfortunately, quote:
"(Models with discrete graphics) One SODIMM slot, not customer accessible or upgradeable supporting up to
16 GB of DDR4-3200 RAM, dual-channel support."
"(Models with UMA graphics) Two SODIMM slots, not customer accessible or upgradeable supporting up to 16
GB of DDR4-3200 RAM, dual-channel support."
Hope I had better news...

Hi
Thanks for the quick response.
That does appear to be the case - but any idea why the laptop says it can handle 32GB when I check the max capacity in comment prompt using wmic memphysical get MaxCapacity, MemoryDevices
Or is that just irrelevant. Why would HP make a newish laptop that you cannot upgrade to just 32GB?? - Rhetorical question really - but thanks for your help.

[EDITED:] It is indeed strange that the "wmic memphysical get MaxCapacity, MemoryDevices" CMD command specifies 32 GB total RAM capability.
To be honest, I have no explanation for this. Other than to say that regardless, it is physically impossible to swap out the RAM module anyway...
Kind Regards,
