- I have Pavilion 15-cu1004tx. I have hp 8gb 2400mhz ram. I want to add 16gb 2666mhz ram in 2nd slot. Will it be ok or better to buy a 2400mhz ram.? I have plans to change 8gb ram also in future.
- Which brands of ram will my laptop support or will be better? Any suggestions. Corsair, HP, PNY, teamgroup etc? & share link of specific ram items.
- Could you share how to DIY ram installation

You're very welcome.
As shown in your 2nd screenshot, the DDR4-2666 MHz memory is running at 2400 MHz (reported at 1197.1 MHz
DDR4-2400 memory would also run at the same speed.
The CPU would not bridge the DDR4-2400 memory to 2133 MHz because the CPU can run DDR4-2400 memory at the full 2400 MHz speed. It only bridges the DDR4-3200 and DDR4-2666 MHz memory to 2400 MHz.
As far as the switchable graphics not working, I would not be able to help you with that and suggest you start a new discussion.

Hi:
Below is the link to the service manual for your notebook.
Chapter 1 has the memory upgrade info.
HP Pavilion 15 Laptop PC Maintenance and Service Guide
According to the manual, your notebook supports up to 2 x 8 GB of memory.
The manual indicates DDR4-2666 MHz memory is supported but bridges to 2400 MHz.
Before you invest in a 16 GB memory chip you should run this command to see if your notebook can support more than 16 GB of memory:
1. In the search box, search for cmd and click Run as administrator.
This will open the command prompt.
2. After the command prompt is opened, type wmic memphysical get maxcapacityEx and hit enter.
There, it will show the maximum RAM capacity your PC's motherboard can support.
The capacity is shown as Kilobytes, so you have to convert it to Gigabytes by dividing the number provided in the report by 1,048,576.
If the report indicates 33,xxx,xxx, then you should be good to go.
Any of the memory chips you posted should work.

- This is the result.
- What do you mean ""bridges to 2400Mhz? Like my ram will downclock to 2400mhz? Will it affect performance?
- In future I might change the 8gb ram 2400 to 2666mhz thats why I wanted a 16gb 2666mhz. So, will it be a decision to run 2666mhz 16gb now?
- Any ram would work, but which RAM would be preferrable? HP's own ram or better to use teamgroup or corsair ram?

OK, so your notebook will support up to 2 x 16 GB of memory.
Your notebook's Intel® Core™ i7-8565U processor can only run the memory at a maximum speed of 2400 MHz.
Intel® Core™ i7-8565U Processor
So, any memory that is faster than 2400 MHz, will automatically bridge to 2400 MHz.
The manual seems to indicate that HP installed DDR4-2666 MHz memory in your notebook.'
DDR4-2400 dual channel support (DDR4-2666 bridge to DDR4-2400)
DDR4-2133 dual channel support (DDR4-2666 bridge to DDR4-2400, and DDR4-2400 downgrade
to DDR4-2133)
I'd get the DDR4-2666 MHz memory.
You can decide what memory you want. Get whichever one costs less and has the best reviews.

Thank you for your help!
I have added cpu z detailed report of my PC. So, do you think 2666mhz ram would be good option? My cpu downgrade will downgrade 2400 mhz to 2133mhz right? SO better to take 2666mhz ram.
I have seen using different brand ram can cause issues with performance, is it true?
I also cant use my AMD dedicated graphics card which came preinstalled with my laptop. How can I turn it on? Even when gaming or anything I tried, it doesnt turn on.

I'd buy a 16 GB DDR4-2400 memory chip to match the DDR4-2400 memory chip HP installed in your notebook.
This one should be compatible:
