Hi, I would like to upgrade my very slow 840 G5 laptop from 8GB to 32GB. I found out 28J89AV (RAM 32GB (2X16GB) DDR4 3200 SODIMM ALL C) on SmartBuy/Ariba. Can anyone confirm this is fully compatible? tks!

Please post your full Model number or Product ID usually found on a label on the bottom of the laptop, and we can check what modules it supports.

Please delete the photo of your serial number, it's not allowed on these forums.

Your Service Manual here- http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c05922740.pdf  shows it ships and supports DDR4 2400 memory, 3200 memory will run at 2400 no matter what. HP consumer laptops don't like performance ram, they work best with the speed listed with relaxed timings, like offerings from Crucial, Samsung, SK Hynix.

I will look at the ram you are looking at and give you an opinion a little later.

Ok tks. This is a business notebook, not consumer. Don't know the supplier and exact reference of sodimm behind that reference and AV. It will run at 2400 and not 3200, but that should be fine anyway, no?

It should downclock  to 2400 speeds, as long as it's not listed as performance ram, it "should" work. Ask me how I know.  😆

Also I couldn't find the ram you listed, can you link us to it?
