Hi:

The service manual on your notebook's support page indicates that you can install 2 x 8 GB of DDR4-2666 memory in your notebook.

HP ENVY x360 - 15-dr1072ms - Setup and User Guides | HP® Support

Below is the service teardown video for the model series.

Removing & replacing parts for HP ENVY 15-dr0000 x360 | HP Computer Service - YouTube

If you want to see if your notebook can support more than 2 x 8 GB of memory, you can run this command:

1. In the search box, search for cmd and click Run as administrator.

This will open the command prompt.

2. After the command prompt is opened, type wmic memphysical get maxcapacityEx and hit enter.

There, it will show the maximum RAM capacity your PC's motherboard can support.

The capacity is shown as Kilobytes, so you have to convert it to Gigabytes by dividing the number provided in the report by 1,048,576.

Hi Paul,

Thank you so much for your amazing reply. I only asked because I went to a best buy to upgrade the RAM and the guy there told me that the RAM is soldered on the mother board and I can not upgrade., is  that true that the RAM for this model is soldered ?

Thanks

You're very welcome.

According to all of the reference material I provided, the memory can be removed and replaced.

The memory is concealed under a metal shield according to the service video and manual.

Now, I do not own your model notebook and have not taken it apart, so if the guys at BBY have worked on that model series before and they know for a fact that all of the information from HP is incorrect, then that I do not know.

Even the Crucial memory report for your notebook indicates you can upgrade the memory -- to 64 GB.

I'm not sure that the 64 GB max memory is correct though.

You may have to open it up and do some exploratory surgery.

This discussion indicates the memory is upgradable.

You're very welcome, Yazeed.

Yes, that would be great if you can confirm 100% for sure whether or not the memory can be upgraded.

I hope it can.

Cheers,

Paul
