I have read a few articles and I think I know the answer, however I will ask anyway for my specific case.
I have the following PC:
HP ElitBook 8540p
CPU: Intel Core i5 540M 2.53GHz (Dual Core)
RAM - DIMM1: Elpida EBJ21UE8BDS0-DJ-F 2GB SO-DIMM DDR3 PC3-10700 (667MHz) 1.5V
RAM - DIMM2: Kingston 99U5594-005.A00LF 2GB SO-DIMM DDR3 PC3-10700 (667MHz) 1.5V
There are only 2 RAM DIMM slots (under keyboard and under base).
I want to upgrade the RAM to the maximum size and performance. From what I've read, because of the Dual Core CPU maximum RAM size is limited to 8GB. I also read that the maximum RAM speed is 1333MHz.
What is my best approach? I suspect that it is 2 x 4GB SO-DIMM DDR3 PC3-10600 (1333MHz). What approximate performance improvement is this likely to be?
