Hi
I purchased 2 8GB RAM sticks to upgrade from the 2 4GB installed when I bought the laptop. However, when I installed both the new sticks Windows crashed multiple times (mixture of total reboot, laptop froze and BSOD). But I could install either one of the two sticks and there was no issues. Just both together. I installed each stick into either of the slots and it always worked with one stick and always crashed with two.
From UEFI I ran memory checks, and tests completed successfully individually, but with both sticks installed the system would run to around 30% and then reboot with no error messages, and no logs. My original RAM is two sticks of 4GB Hynix 3200MHz. It is DDR4.
My newly purchased RAM was PNY XLR8 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 SODIMM 3200Mhz CL20 Notebook Laptop Memory . I have since returned the RAM, but still want to buy some. Have I ordered the wrong type? Something I am missing?

Hi:
It looks like you installed performance memory with a faster CL speed than the standard DDR4-3200 memory your notebook uses.
There are no adjustments in the BIOS you can make, so it is best to stick with the standard CL22 memory HP used.
I recommend two of these:
Crucial 8GB DDR4-3200 SODIMM | CT8G4SFRA32A | Crucial.com
You can install 32 GB of memory in your notebook if you want.
Here is the link to the 16 GB chip:
Crucial 16GB DDR4-3200 SODIMM | CT16G4SFRA32A | Crucial.com
My HP 15-Ee0047nr came from the factory with 2 x 8 GB of memory.
It works fine with that amount of memory for me, but some folks like to max out the memory.
I'm tempted but have not taken the plunge yet.
