According to the service guide, you have two slots and page 1 states quote:

Memory Two SODIMM slots, not customer accessible or upgradeable
DDR4-2400 dual channel support (DDR4-3200 bridge to 2666, DDR4-2666 downgrade to DDR4-2400)
Supports up to 16 GB maximum system memory in the following conƭgurations
● 16 GB (8 GB × 2)
● 12 GB (8 GB × 1 + 4 GB × 1)
● 8 GB (8 GB × 1 or 4 GB × 2)
● 4 GB (4 GB × 1)

Check your existing memory,  If you have one stick of memory, I recommend you buy the exact part number, probably used is cheaper.  You can use WMIC in a commend prompt to see that you have

wmic memorychip get devicelocator, capacity, speed, MemoryType, formfactor, partnumber, manufacturer

Hello, please help, I have a HP Pavilion Gaming Laptop 17-cd2531nw. I want to change the RAM from 8 to 32 gigabytes. Will Samsung DDR4 16GB 3200MHz SO-DIMM 1Rx8 PC4-3200AA (M471A2G43BB2-CWEQ) RAM work for me. And does my laptop even support 32 gigabytes. Thank you in advance

I found the following info over at Crucial and it seems 32gb will work

https://www.crucial.com/compatible-upgrade-for/hp-compaq/pavilion-17-cd2531nw

I recommend you use WMIC to find out what 8gb mem you have and buy a used 8gb the exact same.  IMHO you will not notice much difference between 16 and 32gb and the additional power and heat will run the battery down faster.
