Two SODIMM customer-accessible/upgradable memory module slots DDR3L-1600-MHz dual channel support DDR3L-1600-MHz single channel support Supports up to 12 GB max system memory (DDR3L-1600MHz module), (select models only)

Manual

Manual says 12 gigs max but we know from many reports here it will run 2 x 8 gigs for 16 gig max. Uses DDR3L-1600 SO-DIMM or DDR3-1600 SO-DIMM:

4 GB memory module 691740-001 8 GB memory module PC3L 12800 1600Mhz SHARED 693374-001 8 GB memory module PC3 12800 1600Mhz SHARED 670034-001

If you just want to have 8 gigs remove the 2 and install a 4 gig like this:

Memory installation is super easy as you have an access door on the bottom of the laptop.

Post back with any more questions but please accept as solution if this is the answer you needed.

You gave yourself the solution which is OK but does not do much for me.

HP has 2 different 8 gig modules; one is 1.5 volt and the other is 1.35 volt and I would like to know what the 4 gig module in the laptop is before recommending a mate for it so we know they will play nice together.
