Hi there,
I have a pavilion G6 and recently added 16gb of RAM and the laptop shows this is correct, one problem I am having is that it feels very sluggish as if it still had the 6gb ram as out of the factory, is there any way of sorting out this issue?
kind regards
Jess Bradford

Hi:
The service manual indicates that only 2 x 4 GB of memory is supported.
There is only one thing that I can think of you can try.
This works for the models with the Intel processors when someone installs 2 x 8 GB of memory and the notebook's performance suffers:

Under Windows 7 and later, you can do the following:
bcdedit /set {current} removememory 256
(Execute the command in command prompt with administrative privileges and reboot).

I don't know what's going to happen.
As I wrote earlier, your notebook only supports a 4 GB memory chip in each slot.
If running that command helps the PC run better than it is now, you are only reducing the memory by 256 MB.
If it doesn't help, you will have to live with things the way they are, or install 2 x 4 GB of memory.

You're very welcome.
The service manual doesn't even list the E2-1800 processor your notebook came with as a supported processor, so I don't know if you can upgrade to any of the other processors listed in chapter 1 of the manual.
According to this link, the processor is a BGA-socketed processor which means that is is soldered to the motherboard and cannot be upgraded.

So if the processor is dying, it is time for a new notebook.
No sense in throwing good money after bad on an 11 year old notebook.
