Hi:
Yes, you can add an 8 GB memory chip to the 4 GB one and have 12 GB, but the memory will run in the lower performing single channel mode like it is now with one empty memory slot.
In order for the memory to run in the higher performing dual channel mode, you have to install memory in matching capacities such as 2 x 4 GB or 2 x 8 GB.
Below is the link to the Crucial memory/SSD report for your notebook.
https://www.crucial.com/compatible-upgrade-for/hP-Compaq/pavilion-x360-14-cd0077tu
Your notebook's processor can only run the memory at 2400 MHz.
Here is the 8 GB DDR4-2400 memory chip that is listed on the above report on the Amazon, India website.
Before you buy the memory run the free utility that I zipped up and attached below to see what speed the memory chip HP installed in your notebook is.
It might be a 2666 MHz chip running at 2400 MHz.
If it is a 2666 MHz chip, then get this one instead so it matches the specs of the one in there now.
Below is the link to the service manual...

thankyou so much for a detail explanation and useful links...so you are saying its better to add 4 GB ram instead of 8 GB? If adding 4 GB in second slot is better than adding 8GB please provide me a link to buy 4GB supported for my laptop. and I tried the utility test and the result are (please refer the pic I attached) and it also say the manufacture is Samsung... is it ok to add a second ram from different brand? (say, ram in slot 1 is Samsung (default) and ram that I add in slot 2 is crucial)

You're very welcome.
I think it would be better for you to stick with your original plan to add 8 GB of memory, so that one day if you want to max out the memory you can buy a second 8 GB memory chip and replace the 4 GB memory chip.
If you buy a 4 GB memory chip and decide you want to max out the memory, you would have wasted your money on a 4 GB memory chip.
I think that a notebook with 12 GB of memory running in single channel mode will be a bit better than a notebook running 8 GB of memory in dual channel mode.
I can't see your screenshot, but yes...one of the Crucial memory chips should work fine with the Samsung one.
Just get a chip that is the same speed (2400 or 2666) as the Samsung one is.

as you said you cant view screenshot here the detail:: my memory speed is 1333.3MHZ (DDR4-2666/PC4-21300) thankyou.... and as you said to stick with my plan(adding 8gb(slot2) with 4gb(slot1)=12gb... so that I can max out by adding another 8gb in future (if I tried to do that in future it will become 16gb which is not supported) because in specification they said expandable up to 12gb...

The manual is incorrect about the total memory.
The crucial memory report is correct regarding the total memory of 2 x 8 GB.
If you can install 8 GB of memory in one slot, then you can install 8 GB of memory in the other slot.
Since your existing memory module is 2666 MHz, get this one...
