Operating System: Microsoft Windows 8.1 (64-bit)

Hi there,

I have an HP Envy 17 Leap Motion SE NB PC and purchased it July 2014.

Running Windows 8.1

 

I'm having trouble keeping my ethernet cable plugged into its connector.

I feel that the laptops internal connector housing is wearing out and won't hold the cable in strong enough to get a consistent connection.

Is this a repairable part?

It's not an issue of the part; it's an issue as to whether or not HP does component-level repairs to motherboards -- and they do NOT do that.

 

HP will do a motherboard replacement, but that has to be within the initial warranty period -- which yours clearly is not.

 

Your best bet, in this case, would be to find a local laptop repair facility that will agree to replace the jack -- and get an estimate in advance because, with all the labour involved, this could be quite expensive.
