Hi @skyss0fly,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

Great question! Your HP 14s-dq3132TU Laptop is part of the HP 14s-dq3xxx series, and yes, you can upgrade the RAM, but there are a few important details to keep in mind.

RAM Upgrade Specifications for HP 14s-dq3132TU

  • RAM Slots: 1 SODIMM slot (single channel)
  • Maximum Supported RAM16 GB DDR4
  • Pre-installed RAM: Usually comes with 8 GB DDR4-3200 MHz
  • Compatible RAM Type:
    • DDR4 SODIMM
    • 3200 MHz (PC4-25600)
    • Non-ECC, Unbuffered

⚠️ Since there's only one slot, upgrading means replacing the existing RAM stick, not adding another.

Tools You’ll Need:

  • Small Phillips screwdriver
  • Plastic pry tool (optional but helpful)
  • Anti-static wrist strap (recommended)

Step-by-Step Guide: (Important note: This needs to be performed only by a Store or HP Authorized person):

  1. Power off and unplug your laptop.
  2. Flip the laptop and remove the back panel screws.
  3. Use a plastic pry tool to gently open the bottom cover.
  4. Locate the RAM slot — it’s usually under a metal shield.
  5. Release the side clips to eject the current RAM stick.
  6. Align the new RAM stick with the notch and insert it at a 45° angle, then press down until it clicks.
  7. Reassemble the laptop and power it on.

After Installation

  • Press F10 during boot to enter BIOS and confirm the new RAM is detected.
  • You can also check in Windows Task Manager > Performance > Memory.

I hope this helps.

Take care, and have an amazing day!

Hi, Apologies for the late reply, i was wondering where i can purchase ram sticks compatible for this model? i currently have 4gb of ram installed on this laptop and want to upgrade highest ram and cpu as possible. also is it possible to integrate a fan into the laptop as it has no build in fan and the cpu throttles quite a lot which is annoying when i am programming and things freeze up
