Compaq Presario V4000
Microsoft Windows XP

I have a Compaq Presario V4240US.Windows XP, RAM 2x250 Mb.Processor Intel Pentium M 725 (Dothan), 1.60GHz,

 Motherboard Intel 309D (0x000000E0-0x00002200).

The maximum capacity of RAM is 3GB

Can I increase RAM UP to 4GB. For example -2x2 GB DDR2 PC2-5300S 667MHz CL5,

link >> 2x2 GB DDR2 PC2-5300S 667MHz CL5,

 Type: DDR2

Size: 2GB

Pin Count: 200

Speed: PC2-5300 667Mhz

ECC: No

Registered: No

Voltage: 1.8V

CAS Latency: 5

Component Configuration: 256Meg x 64

OR is better suited-2GB DDR2-533 (PC2-4200)-?

Type: DDR2

Size: 2GB

Pin Count: 200

Speed: PC2-4200 533Mhz

ECC: No

Registered: No

Voltage: 1.8V

CAS Latency: 4

Component Configuration: 256Meg x 64

What is better for this (Compaq Presario V4240US) model?

I understand that only 3GB will be used from 4GB (2x2GB). BUT it's still better than 2GB (2x1GB memory).

Or still 2GB, as suggested by www.crucial.com --- this is the limit for my Presario V4240US?

link:-http://www.crucial.com/usa/en/compatible-upgrade-for/HP---Compaq/presario-v4000-series-(ddr2)

Ram Speed: 1GB DDR2 PC2-5300S 667MHz CL4 PC2-4200 533Mhz и или 1GB DDR2 PC2-5300 667MHz CL5

What is better for this (Compaq Presario V4240US) model?

Thank you!

Hi:

Notebooks with the chipset your model has are limited to a max of 2 x 1 GB of memory.

2 x 2 GB will not work at all.

Thanks for the quick reply Paul!

But a few more clarifying questions:

Where can I read about this. Where do I look, where is it written, said the reference? (This I personally would like to see, understand!)

I spent a lot of time, but I did not find any certifying information.

Of course, you can trust the site www.crucial and its like, for example www.upgradememory.com, But other sites, their services FindHurd.com ,For example, provide other information. Up to the point that the Slot with 4GB will be suitable for this model of Compaq Presario V4240US! It's funny, of course!

And one more clarifying question:

Ram Speed: 1GB DDR2 PC2-5300S 667MHz CL4 PC2-4200 533Mhz or 1GB DDR2 PC2-5300 667MHz CL5

What is better for this (Compaq Presario V4240US) model?

I assume that, of course, 1GB DDR2 PC2-5300 667MHz CL5. But maybe I'm wrong.

Here, on the forum or in the "knowledge base", I read an article on how to Upgrade memory.

For me, the question was not understood (or there was a typo: that PC 2-4200 533Mhz,667MHz, but since I understood from other sources that 667MHz still corresponds to PC2-5300!

1. What is better for my model(Motherboard Intel 309D (0x000000E0-0x00002200).with this chipset?)Ram Speed: 1GB DDR2 PC2-5300S 667MHz CL4 PC2-4200 533Mhz or 1GB DDR2 PC2-5300 667MHz CL5?

2.Where can I see that for a model Compaq Presario V4240US.Windows XP, RAM 2x250 Mb.Processor Intel Pentium M 725 (Dothan), 1.60GHz,Motherboard Intel 309D (0x000000E0-0x00002200).with this chipset, the maximum capacity is -2 GB???

Where can I see about it? In the specification?>>Links, A source,?>>Or is it accessible and only experienced users can understand?

Recommend, if not complicate, the sources, please!? Maybe you already answered something, wrote on this topic? Can someone ask such questions? And you remember where they are here on the forum. But, what to turn over and look for (I'm still not very good at finding here) is very time-consuming! (I have been writing this letter for the third hour !, the previous one wrote 2 days !!!) Captures! :))).

Thank You!
