HP Pavilion 14 inch Laptop PC 14-ec0000 (2Z8E3AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

I have an HP Pavilion 14-EC0013AU laptop, and I'm wondering if I can upgrade the RAM to 32GB with a 16GB x 2 configuration. According to HP's official documentation, the maximum supported RAM for UMA models is 16GB (8GB x 2). However, when I checked on Crucial's website (https://eu.crucial.com/compatible-upgrade-for/hp-compaq/pavilion-14-ec0013au#memory), it indicates that my laptop can support up to 32GB. Can anyone clarify if upgrading to 32GB is possible, and has anyone successfully done it?

You should be able to if after running this command the report indicates that 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) of memory is supported:

1. In the search box, search for cmd and click Run as administrator.

This will open the command prompt.

2. Once command prompt is opened, type wmic memphysical get maxcapacityEx and press the enter key.

There, it will show the maximum RAM capacity your PC's motherboard can support.

The capacity is shown as Kilobytes, so you have to convert it to Gigabytes by dividing the number provided in the report by 1,048,576.

Thank you for the detailed instructions! I ran the command and confirmed that my system can support up to 32GB of RAM.

I have a follow-up question: I’m considering purchasing a Team Elite Sodimm DDR4 PC25600 3200Mhz 16GB module with the following specifications:

  • Memory Channel: Single Channel
  • Clock Speed: PC4-25600
  • Tested Latency: 22-22-22-52
  • Tested Speed: 3200MHz
  • Capacity: 16GB
  • Low Voltage: 1.2V

Would this RAM module be compatible with my current system, especially if I try a mixed configuration like 8GB + 16GB for a total of 24GB?  I don't want to buy two 16GB modules straight away in case it doesn't work.

*cpu-z picture is my current system

You're very welcome.

Yes, based on the memory specs you posted I can't think of any reason what the Team Elite memory you selected wouldn't work. It checks all of the boxes.

The notebook should support a 24 GB configuration but with mismatched memory capacities the memory will only run in single channel mode until you confirm it works and install the second 16 GB memory chip.
