Hello there.

I'm having issues with the Ram upgrade i made. When i  upgrade the Ram from 8GB to 16GB that apparently my laptop can hold; my laptop went to several updates and finished on a black screen. I let the laptop like that for a day thinking it was some updates running but i did not get the computer back to working screen. I took off the New RAM and replaced the old one. I would like some help here please due to i place a RAM that apparently this laptop can hold or if is there other spec i should have considered at the time of purchasing new RAM.

Old Ram- 8GB M471A5244CB0-CTD

New RAM-16GB    P/N 7EH99AA#ABC

The specs of your machine is

           https://support.hp.com/au-en/document/c06038604

It has  4 GB DDR4-1866 SDRAM (1 x 4 GB) now and supports 16GB (2 x 8GB) max. You can use compatible RAM such as  https://www.crucial.com/memory/ddr4/bl2k8g26c16s4b/ct16739757  (RAM will run at 1866MHz).

I can't find part 7EH99AA#ABC.  Is it a 16GB on one piece ? You need 2 pieces of 8GB each.

Regards.

Ok, that would be the problem. In deed the RAM i purchase was a 16GB, I'll do the change to 2pieces of 8GB instead an see what happens. Thanks for your Reply.
