I want to upgrade the memory in my laptop. It currently has 8GB (Kingston 2666mhz). The issue i noticed is that the ram shows speed of 2400mhz in Task Manager while it shows 2666mhz under SPD tab in CPU-Z. After going through some of the forums I got to know that it was something like DDR4 2666 bridged to DDR4 2400.So now assuming it indeed is bridged and will always run at 2400mhz so should I buy 2400mhz model or go with the 2666mhz model? or if it will always run at 2400mhz then why 2666mhz modules was installed in the first place?
And there is one more thing that I would like to know that is my RAM only supported up to 16GB as stated in a manual or more and if more then what is the maximum capacity?
Thanks!
- Model: 15-CE018DX
- Intel Core i7 (7700HQ)
- NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050
I have attached a snaps below that shows different RAM Speed.

HP uses RAM from few suppliers and depending on which RAM sticks are available at the assembly line therefore the following batch may totally has different RAM on machines. From its specs, it only runs at 2133MHz

Yes, it supports 16GB max and as you know it has Kingston RAM now, please record its specs and buy SAME 8GB stick. This will help machine to run dual channels better.
Regards.

Thanks for the quick reply. So does that mean a manual can be different than an end product?
And wont it run in dual mode if i buy 2400mhz as it is currently running at the same speed.
Because my problem now is I managed to find a ram of same specs online i.e 2666 mhz but its CL is 19 where as mine is 17 but the other ram with 2400mhz exactly matches my specs but speed. So what option should i go with?
