Hi @DivyanshKum,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.
Thank you for your message, and I understand your concern regarding both the non-working RAM slot and the forgotten BIOS password on your HP All-in-One - 20-2312 system. Let's go step by step to address both issues.
Part 1: RAM Slot Issue (STD works, REV does not)
Your system has two DDR3 1.5V memory slots: STD – standard functioning slot, REV – second slot, labeled possibly as "reverse" or secondary slot.
What You Can Try:
- Swap RAM sticks: Try a different RAM stick in the REV slot to rule out compatibility.
- Boot with only REV slot populated: Remove RAM from STD slot and try booting with only the REV slot.
- Check max supported RAM: Your model supports up to 8GB DDR3L 1600MHz. Ensure you're not exceeding limits or mixing incompatible types.
Part 2: Forgotten BIOS Password
On HP All-in-One PCs, BIOS administrator passwords are stored in NVRAM (non-volatile memory), and removing the CMOS battery alone may not reset it.
If you don’t remember the password, the PC needs to be sent to the HP Service center to be repaired and fixed, and it will be a chargeable service.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
