HP 15-bao15wm
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I upgraded to 16gb ram at 1600 speed 2 slots.  Task mgr shows 800 speed.

Also tried to enter the bios and change speed thru "xmp" or docp,  But this bios

does not show that option.  How can I update the ram to correct speed of 1600?

Hi:

Your notebook's processor can only run the memory in single channel mode.

You have 16 GB running in single channel mode (800 MHz).

See chapter 1 of the service manual.

Will it run at 1600 with one 16gb card in one slot ?

HP Recommended

No.

I highly doubt that a 16 GB chip would work at all.

That's what I thought too.  Tks for the input.  Time to get a new laptop
