Well for 1 thing I did not mean you! If you read through the whole thread you will see conflicting information!  Which is what I found on several forums also.  I appreciate the help.

Well I can't see any. T he lable only has a bar code and the specks . I could make out the name on the chip set HYNIX and the company that put it together is DUOMEIQI. The chip had this number H5TC2G83BFA  that was the only number that seemed to match on all the chips. This is the link to the Ram I bought.

Hi

Thank you for the response all though I have been around computers since Windows 3.1 and my first cost $2500 and had a 400 meg HDD and a upgrade of 4meg's of ram was $200.00 and have built a few of my own desk top computers. I have not really tried to upgrade my Laptops. Since doing so almost cost as much as the ones I have paid for. I don't game and don't do any heavy anything that takes more than a basic laptop. I had this HP now for 2012 or 2013 and it had a bluray player and really did not have anything wrong with it. It was horrably slow and the puc fan seemed to be dead as the upper left corner was getting hotter than usual. So I just thought I would upgrade it for fun with a new 7200 rpm HDD  a AC wifi card that did not work and ram.  I am 1out of 3 so far.

Thank you

Hank

I did what you said and CPU-Z says the Ram I have is working @ 1.5 volts. Now I am in a mess as I have installed it 1 in the bottom slot then took it out and installed in the top slot boths flashed the cap and number lock keys. Then I put both in at the same time and it did the same thing!

I really think it is down to bad ram or  is that PC3-10700  (667mhz) that came with it  and can't run on the PC3-12800S @1600Mhz that I bought.  But it calls for

641369-001 4GB, 1600Mhz, PC3L-12800 memory module (SHARED) so I am at a loss.  And all the Product Specifications  says is HP Pavilion g7-1261nr Notebook PC Product Specifications Memory 6GB DDR3 SDRAM (2 DIMM).

Somewhere I thought I saw that the DDR3l should run at 1333Mhz I can't find it now.  So I am at a place where what I have is running @ almost 1/3 the speed specified for the Laptop @ HP parts for the laptop. Now looking for PC3-10700 it says it should run a 1333Mhz .

This is a referbed purchase. Not only that it only has 2 1megs of ram instead of the 6megs it says came in it?  I don't know why but can the MHZ be changed in the bios as this is running at half speed ? Serial numbers   Slot # 1- E258BFF2  Slot # 2- 33F6D559 Micron Technology

Part # s-2    8JSF 12864HZ-1G4F1

Does your laptop run an AMD A4-3300M CPU?

If that's the case then you can use <=1333Mhz RAM modules only. Anything up to that won't be recognized, or at least won't be functional.

I see you bought a 1600Mhz module. That's why it didn't work.

As already said, don't fix yourself on DDR3 vs DDR3L. Just buy modules with the right Mhz values.

Also never mix dfferent types of RAMs (Mhz and Voltage).

Hi

Thank you I was planning on doing just that.  AMD A4-3300M CPU is what I have.  Why does HP say that the  641369-001   4GB, 1600Mhz, PC3L-12800 memory module will work then the link is below and I had to use the serial number.  The PS3-10700 why is it running at 667 MHZ.  I was planning on doing as you suggested since it was running on the PS3-10700.  What is funny though  I can't find any of the 10700 with 204 pin.  But I can find PS3-10600 1333 whiich is probably the same.

I don't know why HP listed a 1600Mhz RAM module as compatible.

Anyway, it is not necessary to buy everything from HP directly. Just go to Amazon and pick what you need.

Well I am back I purchased 2 4MBS of 1333MHZ sodimm 1.5V ram. Made by Cosair and the problem persists! flashing Caps and num Lock keys flash at about 3 or 4 seconds after power up. I am at my wits end.  After taking them out and reinstalling the original boots up fine.

I may restart this thread as I am not getting any hits and I have some more questions i mind about the computer. I would like to know what you think though.
