Solved: Re: Maximum RAM Capacity HP Notebook - 15 -bs051od - HP Support Community - 8879839
The 15-bs notebooks with the Intel 6th, 7th and 8th gen core processors have a M.2 slot that supports M.2 SATA SSD's only, not NVMe.
Below is the link to the service manual:
HP 15 Laptop PC (Intel)HP 15g Laptop PCHP 15q Laptop PC Maintenance and Service Guide
I don't see any reason why you couldn't install up to a 2 TB SATA 2.5" or M.2 SATA SSD.

Your machine has an Intel Core processor therefore
- RAM: You can upgrade to 16GB (2x8GB) using compatible RAM such as Crucial 16GB RAM kit (note system may only run at 2133MHz)
- STORAGE: as mentioned on page 3 of the manual, It supports dual storage option with M2. SATA SSD + 2.5"SATA HDD (or SSD). You can add up to 2TB to M.2 slot using standard M.2 SASA SSD such as Samsung 860 M.2 SATA SSD
Regards.
