Hello Sir/Mam I have HP pavilion x360 cd0077tu notebook. My notebook was slower so much today and then powered off suddenly by itself . I noticed a small bulge in my laptop back cover(refer picture ) so I opened the back lid and I opened Ram cover, removed the ram and saw a small black color [like it was burnt or something (Refer picture)]in one of the Ram ( the Ram I brought a year back which was working finely until today). I think the bulge in the back lid was caused by Ram, I don't know what caused it so I removed one ram which I brought a year back ( was using in slot 2 ) which was causing problem and I am using my notebook with the Ram in slot 1 which came with notebook currently . Is the Ram in the picture safe to use again .
Ram details: crucial 4Gb single DDR4 2666 Mt/s ([Pc4-21300)
Thankyou !!

Hi @balaji185
Welcome to the HP Community forum!
Electronics components that have evidence of burning or excess heat should not be used for safety reasons.
Does the notebook operate normally without that suspect memory module installed?

yes the notebook works finely without the Ram. my boot time also improved few seconds after the ram removed. Still I didn't know why it happened. I am using my laptop plugged in for a month or so cause my battery needed to be replaced. is that the reason Ram burnt? thankyou

Was the memory module identical to the module that is installed in slot 1?
It is possible that the module just fried. It isn't common, but it does happen.
Take a close look at the slot the burned module was in to see if it is also fried.

I'm not sure the memory module is burned, because all I can see is only a black tint in the corner and the slot is fine ( refer pic) but the aluminum cover over the ram slot looks burned ( refer pic).
memory module installed in slot 1 is similar to memory module installed in slot 2 and worked finely for a year. I brought the Ram in amazon 1 year back so I think its still under the warranty, can I know how to claim the warranty for the Ram
thank you!!
