Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

So I have checked the motherboard product name and it's HP 820C which comes with my laptop. Currently, I have one stick of RAM installed with the following specs: 8 GB SK Hynix 2133 MHz. I wanted to know can I upgrade the RAM to 2400 Mhz with 8 GB sticks on each slot so that the total memory goes up to 16 GB?  Can my motherboard support it? Or will it run at the same 2133 Mhz irrespective of the 2400 Mhz sticks I install? Or will the laptop not run at all? It is really difficult to find 2133 Mhz ram sticks nowadays in the market. Kindly let me know. Laptop model- HP pavilion 15- au006tx, i5-6200U.

Hi:

You can install a compatible DDR4-2400 8 GB memory chip alongside the 8 GB DDR4-2133 memory chip.

The faster memory chip will automatically bridge to 2133 MHz to match the other memory and the fastest speed your notebook's processor can run the memory at (2133 MHz).

This would be a compatible 8 GB memory chip to buy...

So installing two brand new 2400 Mhz sticks would be futile as the speeds will be limited to 2133 Mhz only?

HP Recommended

Yes, that would be a waste of money.

Just buy the one 8 GB memory chip.
