Pavilion g6-1330se

Hi,

I would like to ask if how many memory slots does my pavilion g6-1330se has?

Currently it has 6gb ram. Is it possible if I will add another 8gb ddr?

Thanks in advance...

Hi:

The maximum memory for your notebook is 2 x 4 GB for a total of 8 GB.

I would remove the 2 GB chip and install a 4 GB chip in its place.

That way, your notebook will have 2 extra GB of memory, but also important is the memory will run in the better performing dual data rate (DDR) mode.

Right now, your notebook's memory is running in the lower performing single data rate (SDR) mode because the memory size is not equal.

Tnx for the reply.

So it means I can upgrade up to 8gb only? Because I dont have my laptop now it is impossible for me to open and check my memory slot. I am planning to buy an single 8 gb chip to upgrade but based on what u said I can only remove the 2 gb chip and change it with 4 gb to make it 8gb dual. Im just making sure because I dont have my laptop now.

Tnx...

You're very welcome.

That is correct.

The max is 2 x 4 GB.

Let's just say for argument's sake that the 8 GB chip did work, if you took out both of the existing memory chips.

2 x 4 GB will work better than 1 x 8 GB.

Thank you so much. You're such of great help. One more thing, is Kingston 2400Mhz DDR4 non-ECC CL SODIMM compatible for my model? Because that is the one I'm planning to buy. Or do you have any suggestions for my memory upgrade?

You're very welcome.

You can't put DDR4 memory in a PC designed to run DDR3 memory.

It runs at a different voltage and the slot is cut in a different place to prevent you from installing the wrong speed memory in the PC.

When you can open up your notebook, get the specs off the 4 GB memory chip that is in there now (should be on the label), and buy another 4 GB memory chip with the same specification.

Here are some suggestions if you can find these memory modules and part numbers in your country...

Anytime.

Glad to have been of assistance.

All notebooks with the Intel 2nd gen core processors use DDR3 memory.

God Bless you too, and enjoy the rest of your weekend.

Sorry one last thing. Just to clarify my model is suited up to 8gb max of dual channel memory only. So it is  not possible for me to suit up two 8gb memory in each memory slot to make it 16gb of total dual channel memory?

Hi:

No manuals or other guides show any support for 2 x 8 GB of memory.

HP service manual states the max is 8 GB.

http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c03094322

The processor and chipset would support 16 GB of memory, but if the BIOS doesn't allow more than 4 GB per slot, then it won't work.

If you want to risk spending a lot of money on 2 x 8 GB of memory on a gamble, of course that is up to you.
