Recently my laptop started shutting off, glitching or freezing. I found out that it stopped recognizing the second slot Ram, while a third-party app(CPU-Z) did . So I decided to upgrade, and bought the kingston fury 8Gb in order to upgrade to 12Gb. However, while it functioned perfectly while using the original 4Gb in the first slot, when I tried to combine it with the Kingston, my computer wouldn't start.Any advice?

Hi!
Thank you for shedding more light on the situation by further explaining your initial post (which apparently I didn't fully understand). I have seen posts like yours before here on the forum. Theoretically speaking, your logic is sound -two identical RAM modules should work. However, logic doesn't necessarily produce correct answers in cases like these, because to fully understand the problem one has to understand the UEFI firmware (BIOS) on your machine and figure out where the conflict with the other module is. It's possible for example that the Kinston cl20 module will work correctly on its own, but if forced to work in a dual-channel configuration......you get an unbootable "brick".
I think the chances are fairly good that the two cl20 modules will work. If it were my money, I'd go for it. Unfortunately this is YOUR hard earned money, and only you can confirm if it works or not -after actually testing it. Everything else......is just speculation and educated guesses.

Hello VasilisGk.
Are we talking about the KF432S20IB/8 module? Kingston has many different gaming modules, and you have to mention the exact RAM module, or at the very least the speed and timings it has. Anyways, since I'm pretty sure this is the one, I can tell you that Kingston's gaming modules can -very often- have issues when used on HP laptops. From posts on this forum, it seems that the bugs and incompatibility issues are more pronounced when installed on AMD HP laptops (like yours). Although I use them myself, on my HP laptops, I do this fully prepared to find out that the system won't boot after installation, or that they won't work well on it -and in that case return them for some generic RAM.
In your case, the best solution is to return the module and get some "normal" Kingston RAM with cl22 timings.....

My bad, I thought my specs were visible. The module is indeed the one you mentioned, kingston fury 8Gb, cl22, 3200MHz. My problem isn't with that module per se, but with its inability to work together with the existing Samsung module. And my question is, since the Kingston is functioning properly on its own, if I decide to buy an identical one to go to 16Gb, will they be able to work together?
