@agou91,

Welcome to our HP User Forum!

Your HP Notebook - 15-da0389tu (7NH16PA) according to HP Notebook - 15-da0389tu Product Specifications | HP® Customer Support and https://www.crucial.com/compatible-upgrade-for/hp---compaq/hp-15-da0389tu, can be fitted with a maximum of 1 x 8GB of DDR4 PC4-17000, 2133 MHz, SDRAM, NON-ECC, SODIMM, 260-pin RAM -though you could choose PC4-19200 (2400 MHz) or PC4-21300 (2666 MHz) or PC4-25600 (3200 MHz), as long as you know that the RAM speed will be down throttled to 2133 MHz.

Hope this was helpful.

Kind Regards,

Will 2666 or 3200 MHz works ? They r way cheaper than 2400. So basically ur saying even if i put higher speed rams. I will only able use at design speed of 2133

@agou91,

Yes, quality 2666 and 3200 MHz RAM (Crucial, Samsung, Kingston) will work just fine, but will, like you said it: run at your notebook's RAM 2133 MHz design speed.

Which one is better, critical, samsung or any other?

Thanks

@agou91,

Ah, that's a toss-up for me between Samsung and Crucial.  I would go for Samsung -but that's mostly a personal preference based on my own 100% positive experiences with Samsung RAM.  I would recommend you purchase it from an eCommerce retailer such as Amazon so that in the very unlikely event your RAM doesn't run at 2133 MHz, you can return it and get refunded.

Hope this was helpful.

@agou91,

Well, I'll be da[but I can't spell it out because HP would '*bleep*' it out...].

The thing is, this would be the first time -for me at least, that Crucial appears to got it wrong, quote: "HP - Compaq HP 15-da0389tu RAM & SSD Upgrades" and: "Maximum memory: 8GB - 1 (1 bank of 1)" -emphasis added.

So, I immediately looked at the HP 15-da0389tu manual (something that I should have done originally and will now do going forward as a matter of search procedure): http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c06691790.pdf:

And the proverbial plot thickened, but not to the better, I'm afraid.  Please, take a look:

The manual states, and I quote: "Two memory module slots (Intel Core processors): Memory is non-customer accessible/non-upgradeable"...

If you look at the various RAM configurations in the table above, it appears that your laptop has one of THESE TWO configs, quote: "4096 MB (4096 MB×1 or 2048×2)" -emphasis added.  -Either way, the manual says -I'm sorry to say: you can't upgrade your RAM because the one 4GB RAM or the 2 x 2GB RAM is fixed/soldered onto your motherboard.

This would change everything, in my opinion.  A laptop that has a fixed 4GB RAM is not worth upgrading, and as a matter of fact concerning its RAM, cannot be upgraded.

Need to run, but will get back to you later today.

Kind Regards,

@agou91,

Yea.  Searchable information is not always accurate.

What is the part number of the RAM stick as well as your motherboard?  A picture of your motherboard would be very nice too.

Kind regards,
