Hi! I would like to upgrade my HP 15s-eq2054nl notebook. I currently only have an 8GB RAM block installed. How far can I go with RAM?
Here is the current model:
Kingston
Max Bandwidth DDR4-3200 (1600 MHz)
Part Number HP32D4S2S8MR-8

Thanks a lot for the support!

Hi:

HP only has the service manual for the original 15s-eq0xxx model series available.

Maintenance and Service Guide HP 15 Laptop PC

According to chapter 1 of the older manual, the notebook supports 2 x 8 GB of memory.

The Crucial memory report indicates the model series will support 2 x 16 GB of DDR4-3200 CL22 memory.

HP - Compaq HP 15s-eq2XXX (Ryzen) | Memory RAM & SSD Upgrades | Crucial.com

You can run this command to confirm that 32 GB of memory would be supported in your notebook:

1. In the search box, search for cmd and click Run as administrator.

This will open the command prompt.

2. Once command prompt is opened, type wmic memphysical get maxcapacityEx and press the enter key.

There, it will show the maximum RAM capacity your PC's motherboard can support.

The capacity is shown as Kilobytes, so you have to convert it to Gigabytes by dividing the number provided in the report by 1,048,576.

Windows through cmd detects 32 Gb as maximum Ram. Since I currently have only an 8 gb kingston module I deduce that the best thing would be to take a new set DDR4 sodimm directly from 16 gb (3200 mhz).

Like this one :

Crucial RAM 16GB DDR4-3200MHz CL22 (o 2933MHz o 2666MHz)  CT16G4SFRA32A

or take another ram to add like this one ->

Kingston KVR32S22S8/8
8GB 1Rx8 1G x 64-Bit PC4-3200
CL22 260-Pin SODIMM

After the swich do i have to change some settings in bios?

Thanks!

You're very welcome.

Yes, that would be the best course of action.

No need to do anything with or in the BIOS.

Memory is plug and play.

Update: I bought the crucial one, but out of curiosity I mounted both. They both work together total memory 24GB of DDR4 RAM. Excellent result thanks for the help.

ddr4-3200 Kingston 8gb + Crucial 16 gb CT16G4SFRA32A
