Hi:
See chapter 1 of the service manual for the memory upgrade info.
Maintenance and Service Guide (hp.com)
It appears that the 14-dv1xxx model series has one or two memory slots depending on what graphics adapter is installed.
The models with the discrete graphics have one memory slot and can support up to 1 x 16 GB of memory.
The models with the onboard Intel graphics have two memory slots and can support up to 2 x 8 GB of memory.
If your notebook has two memory slots and you want to install more memory than is specified in the service manual, you can do this to confirm how much memory your notebook will support:
1. In the search box, search for cmd and click Run as administrator.
This will open the command prompt.
2. Once command prompt is opened, type wmic memphysical get maxcapacityEx and hit enter.
There, it will show the maximum RAM capacity your PC's motherboard can support.
The capacity is shown as Kilobytes, so you have to convert it to Gigabytes by dividing the number provided in the report by 1,048,576.
