TzortzisG, Thank you for this information. While it doesn't solve the problem (yet) it does give me options and the knowledge that this isn't an isolated instance and it saves me from battling with trying to get the Crucial SODIMMs to work. I have ordered the Samsung memory from Amazon through Samsung for $95.00 each. I won't receive it until the 18th/19th and will update here when I install it as to my success or ?

AS I promised. I got the suggested Samsung memory yesterday and installed it this morning. The computer took a minute or so to initialize but then booted as normal. I had to hard reset it once and then do a couple of soft reboots to get it to be happy but it is now up functioning correctly. Powershell shows the new memory correctly as does the performance tab of the Task Manager. So unless something unexpected happens, I'm in good shape with 64GB of memory. Thanks again to all of you who contributed to this solution.

Thanks ScottDy for posting this!

I'm glad that your upgrade with the "right" modules went smoothly. Let me just say that if this were my system -which would mean that it would be a HP laptop- and I had experienced these compatibility issues, then the usual course of action I would take would be to buy the rest of the modules and just max out the memory and never have to deal with this again. You don't know if these modules will be available if you ever decide to upgrade to the full 128GB. Yes, 128GB of RAM does seem overkill at the moment, but so did 32GB when I maxed out my 2016-2017 Skylake/Kabylake systems.......

I've left a channel open with Crucial and try to inform them of these issues with RAM. This time it will be especially interesting to see the kind of answer I get about them having DDR4 RAM as guaranteed compatible for a DDR5 series!
