Hello,
I have an HP Spectre x360 15'' (late 2018 version). There is a rattling sound coming from processor fan when laptop is tilted. When it is placed in horizontal position it does not make any sound. I have read somewhere online that there could be a problem with fan bearing. Does anyone know if this is the problem?
In overall, I am disappointed with this laptop. I came over from a cheap Dell laptop which worked for 5 years with minor problems but never problems that could potentially bring entire system down. I am afraid that the fan could stop working and the laptop would then overheat. This is my only laptop that I use everyday for studying and working and I don't want to be 2 weeks without it in case something needs to be repaired. There are also other problems. The hinges are not aligned but I don't care that much. I had a lot of problems with drivers for first 2-3 months. One time, the fans didn't want to turn on at all and the laptop was going really really hot. I turned it off. As soon as I turned it on again, they started spinning at maximum speed and cooled the laptop in a couple of minutes. When I use headphones, there is no sound for first 2-3 seconds when I play audio. This is a driver problem. Such a shame for a laptop that I paid 1900 euros! Probably this will be my last HP laptop. I regret not buying Dell XPS.

Well, it is a problem.
I am sorry you are disappointed - and that you cannot (or do not wish to) consider having the computer repaired. It is true that hardware repairs of the type indicated would very likely require the computer be sent to an HP Repair depot for warranty repair. **
** There are exceptions, of course. For example, purchased Care Pack Warranty contracts (depending on the contract) sometimes include on site repairs of particular types. Care Pack Warranty contracts are purchased by the customer - you would know if you had one of these.
General Comments
Yes, should the fan stop working the computer would most certainly overheat and shut down. This is expected - computer won't work without cooling.
The hinges could also be repaired if necessary (HP decides) - but this, too, requires that you contact HP Technical Support.
No comments on the 2-3 second delay on the headphones; this is an area in which I lack significant expertise. Might be normal, might be a driver, might be the headphones, might be related settings in the Sound. ??
Should you decide to do so, please do contact HP Technical Support in your region.
Open a case, explain the issue(s) as you understand it / them, and ask for help.
